Postmark and Delinquency Policy
- Payments postmarked after the due dates may be rejected, and delinquent interest will be added.
- After July 1, all property taxes are considered delinquent.
- Postmark dates will no longer be honored as proof of timely payment.
- Payments are credited on the date received, not the date mailed.
Using Your Bank’s Bill Pay Service
Current taxes may be paid with your online banking service, often referred to as "Bill Pay." Make sure to include your property tax schedule number with the payment. Please allow up to two weeks for bank processing and submission of the payment to our office. Account for this delay into account if paying near deadlines. Payments not received timely will be returned and additional interest will be due. *Bill Pay Payments received after the due date will accrue interest beginning the day after the due date.
Late Payments and Interest
- A 1% interest charge is added the day after each deadline, and
- An additional 1% accrues on the first day of each subsequent month.
- Late payments received without interest will be returned.
Example:
If the first half payment is not received by February 28, interest begins March 1.
If full payment is not received by April 30, interest begins May 1, continuing monthly until paid.
Returned or Rejected Payments
- Payments made via credit card, check, or e-check that are returned unpaid by your financial institution will revert your account to unpaid (outstanding) status.
- A $30 returned payment fee applies.
- Returned or reversed payments may also result in late penalties, interest, and administrative fees.
If a payment is rejected by your bank even after appearing successful, please monitor your account to confirm the funds are withdrawn.
Refunds of duplicate or overpayments will be issued by physical check — please ensure the account holder’s name and address are entered correctly when submitting payment.
